Ingrown Toenail Management
A podiatrist assesses and treats ingrown toenails by relieving pain, reducing infection, and preventing recurrence. They carefully trim or remove the ingrown portion of the nail, clean and dress the area, and treat any infection if present. For recurring or severe cases, they may perform a minor surgical procedure to remove part of the nail and, if necessary, apply a solution to prevent that section from growing back. They also provide advice on proper nail cutting, footwear, and foot care to help prevent future ingrown toenails.
